Bergen County Car Service to Newark Airport

Newark Liberty is the airline airport Bergen County travelers can reach without crossing into New York, but the ride there is not the same from every town. From Fort Lee or Hackensack it takes about half an hour in normal traffic; from Mahwah at rush hour it can take well over an hour. Drive Time and Starting Fare to Newark, Town by Town

Where the Traffic Builds Between Bergen County and the Terminals

Our chauffeurs choose between the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike on the day, based on live traffic. The spots they watch most closely are:

• Route 3 through the Meadowlands, especially on weekday afternoons and on MetLife Stadium event nights, when traffic around the stadium backs up for about two hours before the start
• the approach to Turnpike exit 13A, the exit for the airport
• the Parkway through Clifton and the Route 3 and Route 46 interchanges at rush hour

From the eastern towns, such as Fort Lee, Teaneck and Englewood, chauffeurs usually take I-95 straight onto the Turnpike instead of Route 3. When dispatch schedules evening airport rides, it also checks the event calendars for MetLife Stadium and the Prudential Center and moves the pickup earlier when a game or a concert will fill the roads.

Pickup Times Before a Newark Departure

The right pickup time depends on when you fly as much as on where you live:

• Flights before 8:00 a.m.: a pickup about 2.5 hours before a domestic departure from most Bergen County towns, and 3 hours from the northern towns such as Mahwah, Ramsey or Montvale.
• International flights: add about an hour to those times.
• Afternoon flights: traffic starts building around 3:00 p.m., so we suggest a pickup 3 hours before departure.
• Holiday weekends and summer Fridays: add another 30 minutes on the day before Thanksgiving, the Fridays before Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Labor Day, and on Fridays in summer, when both the roads and the security lines at Newark are slower.

Coming Home: Meeting Your Chauffeur at Terminals A, B and C

The easiest way to handle the return is to book it at the same time as the ride out and add your return flight number. The chauffeur’s time then follows the actual landing, so there is no need to call us if the flight is late. After a domestic landing the chauffeur waits up to 60 minutes at no extra charge, and up to 90 minutes after an international one.

Without a meet and greet, the chauffeur texts you after landing and meets you at the curb or at the airport’s pickup area. The curbside pickup area is different at Terminals A, B and C, so the text always gives the terminal, the exact spot and the car details. For international arrivals, the chauffeur waits just outside the customs exit, where passengers come out with their bags.
