Fort Lee Car Service

Fort Lee sits at the New Jersey end of the George Washington Bridge, on the Palisades above the Hudson. Fort Lee Historic Park, on Hudson Terrace at the bridge, tells the story of the town’s role in the American Revolution and looks out over the river, while the Barrymore Film Center pays tribute to the years when Fort Lee was home to the early movie business. For a car service in Fort Lee, though, the bridge is what matters most: when to cross it, which level to take, and when to avoid it altogether.

We pick up at high-rise buildings along Palisade Avenue and Hudson Terrace, at hotels on Route 4, and at homes across the borough, and rides head to the airports, cruise terminals, and Manhattan. Our Fort Lee car service is dispatched from Rochelle Park, in the middle of Bergen County, 24 hours a day.

Pickups at the High-Rises on Palisade Avenue and Hudson Terrace

Most buildings on Palisade Avenue and Hudson Terrace have a front driveway or a loading area by the lobby. The chauffeur pulls into the driveway if the building allows it, lets the doorman or concierge know who he is picking up, and texts you that he is downstairs. If the driveway is busy or reserved for residents, he waits on the street right in front and moves up when you come down. Three things help:

  • tell the doorman to expect the car
  • come down when the chauffeur texts, not before, so you do not wait outside in winter
  • for an early airport pickup, leave the bags in the lobby the night before if the building allows it, and the chauffeur loads them while you come down

Help with the bags and the door is part of every building pickup, as one client wrote after his chauffeur assisted his wife:

“Timely, nice clean cars, friendly and courteous drivers. Our driver- Aranit was outstanding, helped with all our bags, assisted my wife who is handicapped, he went above and beyond- thank you” (Rich J., Google review)

How Our Chauffeurs Handle the George Washington Bridge

The worst times on the bridge are weekday mornings from about 6:30 to 10:00 going into New York, weekday afternoons from about 3:30 to 7:00 coming back, Friday afternoons in both directions, and Sunday evenings coming back to New Jersey. Getting onto the bridge from Fort Lee’s local streets, Lemoine Avenue and the Bridge Plaza area, can take longer than the crossing itself, so our chauffeurs choose the upper or lower level and the entrance from live traffic. For Midtown, when the bridge is jammed, they sometimes go down to the Lincoln Tunnel instead.

For Newark, the Turnpike really is steadier: our chauffeurs do not use the bridge at all, but take the Turnpike south to Exit 13A, and the only usual slow spots are the Route 3 and Route 495 merges on weekday afternoons. For a weekday morning flight from LaGuardia or JFK, book the pickup a little earlier than the map suggests, because the bridge approach alone can add 15 to 20 minutes between 6:30 and 9:00 a.m.

Weather adds its own delays on the bridge approach, and one client noted that snow was no problem for her chauffeurs:

“Early arrival… safe and pleasant ride.. snowy conditions were no problem for our drivers.. perfect rides in all ways” (Sheryl C., Google review)

Drive Times and Fares to the Airports and Cruise Terminals

LaGuardia is closer in miles than Newark, so a car service from Fort Lee to LaGuardia depends more on the bridge than on the distance. These are the times dispatch plans with, the pickup we recommend, and the starting one-way prices:

From Fort Lee to Normal / rush hour Recommended pickup Sedan SUV
LaGuardia (LGA) 25 to 35 min / 45 min to 1 h 15 min 2.5 h domestic, 3 h international $205.56* $271.26*
Teterboro (TEB) 15 to 20 min / 25 to 35 min 1 h before a private departure $105.56* $171.26*
Newark Liberty (EWR) 30 to 40 min / 45 min to 1 h 10 min 2.5 h domestic, 3 h international $120.54* $186.24*
JFK 50 min to 1 h 5 min / 1 h 20 min to 1 h 50 min 3.5 h domestic, 4 h international $217.24* $282.94*
Manhattan Cruise Terminal 20 to 30 min / 40 min to 1 h 1 h to 1 h 15 min before your boarding slot $172.52* $238.22*
Cape Liberty Cruise Port, Bayonne 35 to 45 min / 55 min to 1 h 20 min About 1.5 h before your boarding slot $150.60* $216.30*

*Prices above show one-way estimates from our online booking form. Tolls and parking add to the base fare, and every reservation includes a gratuity of at least 15%. Your quote confirms the final fare for your exact address.

On the way home, dispatch tracks your flight, and the chauffeur waits up to 60 minutes after a domestic landing and 90 minutes after an international one at no extra charge.

Airports change their plans too, and one client described how her chauffeur worked around a closed terminal entrance:

“When we arrived at the airport, the entrance for our gate was closed with no alternative directions given. Our driver kept his cool and found his way around the terminal getting us to the proper gate without complaining.” (Celeste A., Google review)

Sailing From Manhattan or Bayonne with a Ride from Your Door

Fort Lee clients book cruise rides mostly in the spring, summer, and fall sailing seasons, to both the Manhattan Cruise Terminal and Cape Liberty in Bayonne. We plan the pickup around the boarding time slot the cruise line gives you. At the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, the chauffeur drives up the ramp from 12th Avenue to the upper-level drop-off, where porters take the checked bags; at Cape Liberty, the drop-off is at the terminal curb, and porters take the bags there too. For the return, the chauffeur waits for your call once you are off the ship and through customs. The rest of the planning, from luggage to pier rules, is covered by our cruise terminal transportation.

Hotels, the Barrymore and Other Fort Lee Stops

  • DoubleTree by Hilton Fort Lee on Route 4 eastbound, right before the bridge: the entrance is only reachable from Route 4 east, so the chauffeur plans the approach through local streets and picks up at the front door. A sedan from LaGuardia to the DoubleTree starts at $205.56*.
  • Hyatt Place Fort Lee, next to the DoubleTree on Route 4 eastbound, with the same approach and a front-door pickup.
  • Barrymore Film Center at Park Avenue and Main Street: parking is tight, so we drop off at the door and pick up on a text after the film or show. A sedan from JFK to the Barrymore starts at $217.24*.
  • Hudson Lights on Main Street, with its restaurants and movie theater: drop-off on Main Street and pickup on a text.
  • Jack Alter Fort Lee Community Center: drop-off and pickup at the front entrance for community events.
  • Fort Lee Historic Park: mostly photo stops for couples on their wedding day, with the car waiting at the park entrance.

The Homewood Suites that many visitors book is in Edgewater, on River Road, 10 to 15 minutes south. Beyond single rides, a car can stay with you for an evening or a day of appointments with our hourly service; couples can build the Historic Park photo stop into their wedding day transportation; and a night out across the bridge works well with our bachelor and bachelorette party rides. School and company outings that need one large vehicle go through our charter bus service.

Clients have given Air Brook 4.9 stars in more than 870 Google reviews. For a Fort Lee limo service or a simple sedan to the airport, the booking is the same:

  3. the number of passengers and bags, including anything left in the lobby the night before
  4. for a Route 4 hotel or the Barrymore, the time you want to be picked up or will text

Late Nights, Private Flights and Waiting at the Building

Is there a surcharge for a pickup before 5 a.m.?

Yes. Pickups between midnight and 4:59 a.m. carry a $25 surcharge plus gratuity.

How long will the chauffeur wait in front of my building?

The first 15 minutes are free for pickups that are not at an airport, and waiting after that is billed by the minute.

My private flight into Teterboro is running late. What should I do?

Private flights are not tracked automatically, so a quick call or text to dispatch is enough, and we move the chauffeur’s time.
