Cruise Terminal Transportation in New Jersey
Three cruise ports serve travelers from North Jersey: Cape Liberty in Bayonne, the Manhattan Cruise Terminal on the Hudson, and the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook. Cape Liberty is the one our clients use most, because it is the closest to home. Our cruise terminal transportation covers the ride from your house or straight from the airport on sailing day, and the pickup when the ship comes back. The busiest months are the summer and the school holidays, with a second, smaller peak around the winter holidays.
Sailing-Morning Drive Times and When to Be Picked Up
From Rochelle Park, these are the drives our chauffeurs see on a sailing morning and the pickup time we recommend, counted back from your check-in time:
| Cruise port | Usual drive on a sailing morning | Pickup before your check-in time |
|---|---|---|
| Cape Liberty, Bayonne | 35 to 45 min | 1 h 15 min |
| Manhattan Cruise Terminal (Piers 88 and 90) | 40 to 60 min | 1 h 30 min |
| Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, Red Hook | 1 h 10 min to 1 h 30 min | 2 h |
Drop-off is usually busiest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., so an earlier check-in slot means shorter lines at the curb and at security.

How Our Chauffeurs Handle Drop-Off at Each Terminal
Each port has its own entrance for cars, and the chauffeur knows which one to use:
- Cape Liberty: through the guard gate on Port Terminal Boulevard in Bayonne. Passengers from Jersey City, 15 to 20 minutes away, often book the ride from Downtown Jersey City to this port.
- Manhattan Cruise Terminal: cars enter from West 55th Street and 12th Avenue for Piers 88 and 90. A car service to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal from Bergen County usually crosses the George Washington Bridge or goes through the Lincoln Tunnel, depending on the morning.
- Brooklyn Cruise Terminal: at Bowne Street and Imlay Street in Red Hook, the longest of the three drives from North Jersey.
At all three ports, porters take the big bags at the curb, so you board with only your carry-ons.
A client of many years wrote about his sailing-day ride to Bayonne:
“We recently used them for a trip to the cruise terminal in Bayonne, NJ and the driver was as always very professional and early.” (Andrew S., Google review)
Flying In on Sailing Day: From the Airport Straight to the Ship
If you fly in on the day of the cruise, choose a flight that lands at least 4 to 5 hours before the ship’s all-aboard time; for a morning sailing, flying in the day before is safer. A typical booking: a family flies into Newark on the morning of the sailing, and we take them straight from the airport to Cape Liberty in an SUV, timed to their check-in slot.
We follow commercial flights, so the pickup moves with the actual landing time. How pickups work inside each airport is explained with our Newark Airport rides, JFK pickups, and the overview of the airports we serve. Travelers who arrive the night before can also be picked up at their hotel on sailing morning.
Choosing a Vehicle That Holds Everyone’s Cruise Luggage
Cruise suitcases are bigger than the average airport bag, so luggage decides the vehicle more often than seats do. With a full load of passengers:
| Vehicle | Passengers | Large suitcases |
|---|---|---|
| Sedan | Up to 3 | Up to 3; very large cruise suitcases may need an SUV |
| SUV | Up to 6 | About 5 with 6 passengers, 7 to 8 with 4 |
| Passenger Van | Up to 13, or 10 with luggage | About 10 |
| Mercedes Sprinter | Up to 14 | Carry-ons and some checked bags with 14 people |
| 23-Passenger Mini Bus | Up to 23 | Limited space |
| 37-Passenger Mini Bus | Up to 37 | About one per passenger, in the luggage bay |
| 55-Passenger Motorcoach | Up to 55 | One per passenger, plus a carry-on |
If 14 people in a Sprinter each bring a large suitcase, add an SUV for the bags or book the 37-passenger bus. Wedding parties and family reunions sailing together often book a Sprinter or a mini bus from one meeting point, so everyone reaches the port at the same time with all the luggage; larger groups are planned through our group transportation.
Getting Picked Up When the Ship Comes Back
We book the return pickup for the time you expect to walk off the ship, based on your disembarkation group or self-assist time. The chauffeur waits in the port’s pickup area for pre-arranged cars. When you have your bags and are walking out, call or text, and the chauffeur tells you exactly where the car is. The first 15 minutes after the scheduled pickup are free; after that, waiting is billed by the minute, from $65 per hour for a sedan, $80 for an SUV, and $90 for a van. If disembarkation is running late, a text to dispatch is enough, and we adjust.
The piers can be chaotic on return day, as one couple found when their chauffeur guided them across 12th Avenue at Pier 88:
“We just got back from a cruise and got picked up by our AirBrook driver: kevin I know he had a hard time looking for us due to the confusion in Pier 88 .We were told to cross the street ..12th Ave. Very good service and polite!” (Grandma C., Google review)
Another passenger noted how the chauffeur adjusted to the ship’s arrival time:
“Very polite. Was able to adjust schedule due to the ship arrival time. Kept in touch as to his location to the terminal. Carefully loaded our luggage” (Elaine S., Google review)
A Car and Driver in Your Ports of Call
The ride to the pier does not have to be the last one we arrange. Through our global network, we can book a car and driver in many cruise ports along your itinerary. Send us the port, the date, and the ship’s arrival and departure times, and we will send a quote; we suggest booking at least two weeks before the cruise.
Reserving Your Sailing-Day Ride
Whether you need a car service to Cape Liberty, the Manhattan piers, or a car service to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, send us the ship and sailing date, your check-in time, the pickup address or flight number, the number of passengers, and the number of large suitcases. Book the return pickup at the same time. Cruise passengers, airport travelers, and families alike have rated Air Brook 4.9 on Google in more than 875 reviews.

Early Flights, Holiday Sailings and Gratuity on Cruise Rides
What if my flight lands late on the day of the cruise?
The pickup moves with the actual landing time, and the chauffeur waits 60 minutes after a flight within the US and 90 minutes after an international one at no extra charge. If a delay puts the all-aboard time at risk, call dispatch right away so we can plan the fastest route to the port.
Is there a surcharge for a very early pickup or a holiday sailing?
A pickup between midnight and 4:59 a.m. costs $25 extra, and on major holidays, including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, a surcharge of at least $50 applies, each plus gratuity.
Is the gratuity included in the cruise fare you quote?
A gratuity of at least 15% is added to every reservation, so the total you approve already includes it. Tolls and parking are added separately.
