New Jersey Private City Tours

Some of the best views in the region are on the New Jersey side of the Hudson: the Manhattan skyline from Liberty State Park, the brownstone blocks of Hoboken, the cliffs of the Palisades and, farther south, the campus and shops of Princeton. Our private city tours let visiting family, corporate guests, and locals see those places with a chauffeur and a car of their own, stopping where they like and moving on when they are ready, without looking for parking or reading a map.

Our chauffeurs know the area well, but they are drivers, not tour guides. If you want commentary at each stop, you can bring a licensed guide along (more on that in the questions at the end of this page).

What a Chauffeured Sightseeing Day Looks Like

Every tour starts with a pickup at your door, whether that is a home, a hotel, or an office, and ends with a drop-off wherever you choose. The route follows your interests rather than a fixed script, so you can spend an extra half hour on the promenade at Liberty State Park or skip a stop if the group is tired. At busy stops, the chauffeur drops you at the entrance, waits nearby or in a garage, and comes back to the same spot when you text that you are ready.

Tours are booked by the hour, with a 4-hour minimum in a sedan and a 5-hour minimum in an SUV or a Mercedes Sprinter. That makes our New Jersey private tours easy to plan: pick a route, choose a vehicle for the size of the group, and the price follows the time.

Three Sample Routes With Their Usual Length and Price

These are the tours clients ask for most, timed from a Bergen County pickup:

Tour Usual length Sedan SUV Mercedes Sprinter
Hudson waterfront and Hoboken About 4 hours $386.60* $591.00* (5-hour minimum) Quoted on request
Princeton for an afternoon About 6 hours, including 1 h 15 min to 1 h 30 min each way $576.40* $707.80* Quoted on request
The Palisades and Bergen County About 4 hours $386.60* $591.00* (5-hour minimum) Quoted on request

*Starting prices from our online booking form (September 2026), based on $94.90* per hour for a sedan and $116.80* per hour for an SUV; the online price includes all fees. Tolls, parking, extra stops, and waiting are added. The Sprinter is quoted on request.

The Hudson Waterfront: Liberty State Park, Exchange Place and Hoboken

At Liberty State Park, the chauffeur drops the group at the historic CRRNJ Terminal, next to the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, and the car waits in the park’s lot. Summer weekends and school holidays are the busiest times there, so we suggest going in the morning. In Downtown Hoboken, drop-off is on Sinatra Drive or near Hoboken Terminal; parking is tight, so the chauffeur waits in a garage or nearby and returns when you text. Weekend afternoons and evenings are the busiest in Hoboken.

A visiting family of four, for example, rode in an SUV from their Bergen County home to Liberty State Park, then to Exchange Place, had lunch in Hoboken, and was back home after about 5 hours. A corporate group of 12 took a Sprinter on a waterfront loop before a dinner in Hoboken, about 4 hours in all.

Princeton: Nassau Street and the University Campus

Princeton is a favorite for families visiting the university. The chauffeur drops you on Nassau Street at the campus gate or at Palmer Square and waits in a garage nearby while you walk the campus, browse the shops, or stop for lunch. Avoid Commencement and Reunions in late May and football Saturdays if you can, when the town is very busy.

The Palisades Overlooks and a Stop in a Bergen Town

This route follows the cliffs along the Palisades Scenic Byway, with stops at the overlooks, a break in one of the Bergen County towns and a drive back along the Hudson. The overlooks have small lots where the car can wait. Fall weekends are the busiest days on the cliffs.

Manhattan Sightseeing for Guests Staying in New Jersey

Guests staying on the New Jersey side often book a car by the hour for a day in Manhattan. It works as a chauffeured day with drop-offs, not a guided tour. The stops clients ask for most are:

  • the 9/11 Memorial and One World Observatory
  • Rockefeller Center and Top of the Rock
  • Central Park, with drop-off at Columbus Circle or Grand Army Plaza
  • Hudson Yards and the High Line
  • the Brooklyn Bridge

The chauffeur drops the group at each entrance. In Midtown and Downtown, the car cannot wait at the curb, so the chauffeur circles or waits in a nearby garage (parking is added), and the group texts 10 to 15 minutes before they want to be picked up at the same spot.

A longtime client who rode into New York and back with our chauffeurs wrote:

“Sam and the return drivers were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Our ride to and from NYC was seamless.” (Kathie S., Google review)

Matching the Vehicle to a Day of Getting In and Out

A sightseeing day means many short rides and many stops, so a little extra room goes a long way:

  • Sedan: up to 3 passengers, for a couple or a small family
  • SUV: up to 6 passengers, and the most comfortable choice for 4 or 5 people over a full day; it is the vehicle families choose most
  • Mercedes Sprinter: up to 14 passengers, the usual choice for groups of 7 or more

If you are bringing a licensed guide, count the guide as a passenger when you choose the vehicle.

If you would rather spend the day tasting than sightseeing, we also run wine tours to New Jersey vineyards and brewery tours with a private driver, and for errands or meetings rather than sights, you can keep a chauffeur by the hour.

Local Families and Visitors Who Have Ridden With Us

Air Brook has driven clients around New Jersey and New York since 1971, with licensing and insurance details on our duty of care page. Families who already ride with us to the airport can book private chauffeur tours in NJ through the same dispatch team.

As one of those families wrote on Google:

“My family has been using air brook for years. Whether it’s an airport pick up or a trip to the city. Their drivers are wonderful!” (Judi W., Google review)

You can read what others say in more than 870 Google reviews, with an average of 4.9 stars.

Planning and Booking Your Tour

To quote private city tours in New Jersey or a Manhattan day, dispatch needs:

  1. the date, the pickup address, and the time you want to start
  2. the stops you have in mind, or simply the sample route you like
  3. how many people are coming, including a guide if you are bringing one
  4. any meal stop or reservation the day should be built around

Call dispatch 24/7 at (800) 800-1990 (our local line, 201-843-6100, also works), email info@airbrook.com, or book the hours through our online reservation form.

Details Guests Ask About Before Their Tour

Can you arrange a licensed tour guide?

You book the guide directly, and we coordinate pickup times and meeting points with them. The guide rides with the group as long as there is a free seat in the vehicle.

Why does a tour starting in Bergen County give more sightseeing time?

Tour hours count from our garage in Rochelle Park and back. A tour that starts and ends in Bergen County spends less of that time getting to you, so more of it goes to the stops.

Can the Sprinter drive along the Palisades Interstate Parkway?

Commercial vehicle rules on the Palisades Interstate Parkway limit which of our vehicles can use it. With a Sprinter, we plan Palisades stops that are reached from local roads, such as Fort Lee Historic Park.
